About Dog and Runner

   Dog and Runner, Inc. is the proud creation of Bryan and Melanie Purcell. Avid fitness enthusiasts, their inspiration began during Bryan's 2007 Marine Corps Marathon training with the help of their neighbor's behaviorally challenged Boxer, "Ernie". Ever the bullheaded Boxer, Ernie constantly tried to take the pack leader role. Leash pulling, house destroying, separation anxiety, and aggression were commonplace until Ernie began his daily runs. After one year of running and behavior training, Ernie's behavior markedly improved which would not have been possible without his exercise regime.

   The second inspiration was the addition to the Purcell family of "Oscar" the Boxer, rescued from a boxer rescue group in northern Illinois. Oscar is a true gem of a dog and a born elite canine athlete. He has incredible endurance and is a magnificent animal to watch run.

   Oscar and Ernie are high-energy dogs that need to be exercised to remain physically and mentally healthy. Bryan and Melanie found great joy running and exercising with "The Boys" and decided that all dogs need and deserve the same. Dog and Runner, Inc. was created so that dog owners in the ChicagoLand area have available a service that devotes considerable time and energy to the continued health and well being of their canine companions.

   Dog and Runner is a Certified Partner of the world's first dog running service, Running Paws, Inc. based in Manhattan. Our staff has been exhaustively trained by the staff of Running Paws in order to provide our clients with the very best possible service.
